According to, KIMBERLY HEFLING, Associated Press Writer,
Democratic Rep. John Murtha said Wednesday his home base of western Pennsylvania is racist and that could reduce Barack Obama's victory margin in the state by 4 percentage points.

The 17-term Democratic congressman told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in a story posted Wednesday on its Web site: "There is no question that western Pennsylvania is a racist area."
This got some "heated" exchange in tonights debate but it's an issue that reminds me of a hilarious comment in 1992 by then Clinton Campaign manager James Carville who reportedly said in a disparaging remark at the time, "Pennsylvania is Alabama plus Pittsburgh." Then there was the infamous line that Obama stated that's getting a lot of play in NRA attack ads about the "Bitter small town folks who cling to religion, xenophobia, and guns." But the more I hear about the hardworking, decent, small town, country-loving, Bible thumping, gun toting, Good ole boys and girls of Pennsylvania, the more I love them all. More than anything though, it makes me realize why the Junto boys love E so much.

McCain is going to get the natural conservatives regardless of race, but the punditry worries that the Reagan Democrats won't come back home because of race.

The media is avoiding the headline "Party leader fear racist Democrats will swing the election."
