The British election again proves ABB (anybody but Bush, anybody but Blair) is not a winning platform. You still have to put up a candidate who is better and who has something further to say.
All the British press can say this morning is how certain constituencies abandoned Blair, how the shift away from Labour is a tremendous blow to Blair, how this is Blair's chance to apologize for the war, how the people have spoken, etc. Call me a stupid American, but I don't see how winning a national election, entering a historic third term, and maintaining a commanding majority in Parliament is a defeat for Blair. The people have spoken all right.
