Conservatives get their way and get the fight they want, or so they think. If the real fight turns out to be conservative Republicans vs. less conservative Republicans, the party could be the loser.

I'm not worried about the infighting. The conservative base is happy that Bush listened and the moderates have no reason to dislike Alito. And boy will it be fun to hear Schumer call Alito a caveman.
