OPERA SINGER LEAVES NARY A DRY EYE

He got me. He got my wife. He didn't get Simon. Will he get you?

Totally unrelated: I am really enjoying the NL races and I have to hand it to the Yanks who everybody wrote off except the Yanks. The FIGHTIN' PHILS are right back in it!

Three divisions and a wild card make for a pennant race every year. I like the 4 team tie scenario in the NL if the East and West divisions wind up locked. Torre was chocked up yesterday as they clinched. The media had him packing the Samsonite back in April.

The opera singer is a great moment.

At first I thought it was a gag mashup. There is an odd insert of Simon at 1:47 that is an obvious edit. I had to watch it again to realize it must have really happened more or less as depicted - very nice moment. Proving oneself in front of an unexpectant crowd is the apogee of any great story.

It's amazing how the Yanks have turned their season around. I don't like any of the NL teams this year. I'm pulling for whichever team wins the inevitable Angels/Indians matchup.

If you listen closely, there is an audio edit at 1:43 followed by some incongruous reaction shots but I suppose that was just to condense the length of the song he actually sang.

I don't watch the show, but I imagine this guy will slam dunk his way through the contest and enter the public consciousness until the inevitable celebrity deathmatch between him and Andrea Bocelli.
