This is an interesting story from a small newspaper that was linked by Drudge twice recently. The first link was Walter Cronkite’s remarks against the war in Iraq. The other link was a local NOW chapter President that took exception to the Laci Peterson Double murder charge. Their unique hits went from 10,000 to 190,000.

The author of the article is deeply concerned that Drudge has too much power. But it’s evident that people don’t want to wait for some evening anchor to give them the happenings. Drudge is always available for the leatest news. A good example of freedom of choice.

There have been other articles about how the media spends a lot of time monitoring Drudge and reporting from him. That sounds like laziness. Surely they can surf the web for articles themselves or procure sources. The real danger, if there is one, is not Drudge but a media that refuses to do tough research and reporting themselves. It may explain their reflexive liberalism. They were just following Cronkite’s lead all those years.
