AMERICA HATERS, UNITE

Michelle Malkin on Michelle Obama's comment.

I believe it was Michael Kinsley who quipped that a gaffe is when a politician tells the truth. In this case, it's what happens when an elite Democratic politician's wife says what a significant portion of the party's base really believes to be the truth: America is more a source of shame than pride.

For years, we've heard liberals get offended at any challenge to their patriotism. And so they are again aggrieved and rising to explain away Mrs. Obama's remarks.

Like Lady Macbeth, Lady Michelle and her defenders protest too much.

Mr. Obama has been getting a lot of credit for "staying on message." Staying on message means you keep saying what it's been agreed you will say. In this case a little truth slipped out and you can see how dangerous such a thing can be.

Tonight on Brit Hume, William Kristol said a Democrat operative called the Obama campaign and told them to get her on TV to apologize. Instead she explained why she is currently proud. In her circle of friends I'm sure this kind of thing is said all the time. She just doesn't have a pulse on the swing voter.

It does show a level of authenticity that we're not use to in politics, but is also shows why politicians have to pretend sometimes to win.

That she didn't apologize today when it would have been easy makes this race a lot more interesting. A cautious Obama is tough to beat. A downright leftist hasn't worked since FDR.

It will be interesting to see how they handle Michelle Obama's appearances from here on out. The more she speaks the more opportunity we'll see it make news.

Michelle needs to zip it and leave the talking to Barack. She rose from a working class family to become a Harvard-educated lawyer pulling in $200k - yet she steeps in the language of victimhood.

It is time for Right-Wing politicos admit that
1. they do not believe, and refuse to abide by, the Constitution of the United States;
2. they do not believe and refuse to observe that those who are not rich have the same rights as those who are;
3. they do not believe that the lives of those who are not rich have the same value as those who are, especially during wartime;
4. they do believe that symbols of the country (e.g., flag-pins) have more importance than the substance that is the country, because they can be used to guide and direct the uneducated;
5. they do believe that the Old Testament is the fundamental book of Christianity, that the New Testament adds nothing to it, and that the practical accumilation of wealth is more important than any Biblical morality;
6. they do believe that language, religion, intelligence, and the capacity to accumilate wealth are, or ought to be, passed to us through birth (and hence constitute a birth-right).
These six principles have become manifest in the policies of the Bush Administration, and are now almost explicitly stated by RightWing pundits.
All I am asking is that they come all the way out of the closet, proclaim these as their basic principles, and present their case honestly to the American people. If we are going to put an end to our Representative Democracy and give it over to an oligarchic republic for and by the wealthy, may we at least have one honest, reasonable referendum on this issue? Just as a matter of courtesy to the memory of the Founders who made it possible for us to be here?
I don't see how RightWingers can claim to be patriots any other way - because otherwise, they are traitors.

Point 1 - Liberals are the ones that continually change the meaning on the Constitution through the unelected and elite judiciary.

Point 2 - The Junto Boys are not rich and do not believe that some people have more rights than they do.

Point 3 - The Junto Boys are still not rich.

Point 4 - The symbols are naturally going to be attacked by those who would rather have world government than a sovereign United States of America.

Point 5 - This would only be true if all Conservatives were Jewish.

Point 6 - Passing wealth to one's children is a property right no different than you buying groceries for your mother. Intelligence is passed through Chromosomes that even Democrats haven't been able to regulate. Language and Religion inheritance are the rights of parents in any free society.

I'm sorry Mr. Winner that you are troubled that some people have more than others. This has been true through the course of human history and even more true in those countries that claim to be communist.

Instead of seeing so much misery, why not look around and realize that the poor in our country would be considered rich in 90% of the world.

Zip it, lady. Now Michelle is commanding young people to eschew high-paying corporate jobs in favor of becoming teachers, counselors, AmeriCorps volunteers, etc. This can't possibly be part of Obama's economic stimulus plan.
